If I remember rightly, there have been some concerns raised (though not
shared by me), that people wouldn't want an initially unmoderated system
directly associated with WP.  The argument is that any problems caused
by it would be implicitly associated with WP itself and could risk
damaging its core reputation.

Of course, assuming that the system is coded and moderated well (and
drDave, I have every faith it is :) ), this wouldn't be a problem but
still I can at least see the reasons for these worries...

How about a prominent link on wordpress.org to wp-plugins.org or
whatever, and an equally prominent message there explaining this as an
unofficial enterprise.  This should keep everyone happy?
