In the ongoing war against comment spam, I’m proudly introducing my
latest plugin - Kitten’s Friendly Comments. This is a neat, easy to use
plugin that will allow you to whitelist your friends and moderate
everyone else. With out making any changes to your core files or
database, and will automatically allow previous commentors to continue
posting without even know you’ve put in a whitelist.

How it works:
When a new comment is posted, this plugin checks to see if the authors
email address has been use to submit a comment that was previously
approved. If it hasn’t, it will be flagged for moderation, and you can
decide what to do with it. If a comment is submitted by someone who’s
been approved in the past, the comment posts as normal, with no
intervention from the user or administrator.

If you want to ‘un-approve’ someone from commenting, even if they’ve
been approved in the past, simply add their email address to the spam
words list on the Options > Discussion Admin page. This way their
previous posts won’t be disturbed, but future posts will be moderated.
NOTE: you must have “An administrator must approve the comment” set for
this to work!
