[wp-hackers] Licensing And Attribution

Any chance we can get GPL headers at the top of our files, or at the
very least a GPL notice file? I assume that this hasn't been
included because no definitive decision was made regarding GPL
inclusion as the last discussion kind of trailed off [1]. If this
isn't the case, I'll gladly submit a header to the latest CVS and
research to the best of ability copyright holders for patches to
maintain the list.

Sure, we include the GPL license, but nowhere in the latest CVS could I
find anything stating that WP was released under the GPL.

What I'm looking for is a short snippet of attribution that declares WP
as GPL and lists the copyright holders [2].

It's just very important to me that the people who work on WP get
credit, so they have something to point to. This isn't so much about
copyright attribution as it is about giving all submitters credit for
their work, and leaving a trail that gives the individual developers
and the WP project more credibility.
