 The challenge is that you assume that all the hundreds of millions
 WordPress users in the world are part of the inner circle of WordPress
 core development and are "in the know". And that they will MAGICALLY AND
 MYSTICALLY KNOW that this error message relates to a bug that WordPress
 core devs created for a functionality that has worked for as long as any
 of them have used WordPress. And via this magical psychic connection to
 the inner circle of they great Oz of WordPress, they will be made aware
 through a visitation or a dream or perhaps the zeitgeist that they need to
 go find this specific plugin to workaround it.

 The myopic worldview here is astounding to me. Since this effects every
 branch 6.4 and back, this problem is going to be an issue for long time.
 Not just for users but for every single person who supports them.

 I get the hating on Mac OS zip files. I really do, but why decide this
 late in the game to stick it to Steve Jobs with a totally unhelpful error
 message? At least say, "You suck because you use Mac OS and don't know
 command line or that Mac OS zip files suck, so you're going to have to
 download this other plugin <link> and install it before you try to upload
 your sucky Mac OS zip file again."

 That would certainly be more useful.
