 If we want to eventually move away from refreshing the page, would it be
 possible for the activation AJAX call to return an optional message? This
 message could be filterable (through a PHP hook), with only text and links
 allowed (KSES)?

 Plugin authors could then use `add_filter` to return something like "Thank
 you for activating MyPlugin, click here to configure its options.". The
 plugins page should then obviously display the message.
