[wp-hackers] Best way to verify if a post_id is valid

When we have an ID, there is really a lot of ways to verify if there is a post with that ID, but what's the best/correct way to do 
so?

That includes verifying if that ID is not a revision, or a scheduled post, or a draft, etc.
