 In response to @jorbin's earlier question: yes, this also happens in the
 theme/plugin editor, for PHP files. (Which is the duplicate issue I closed
 for this one.) I'm operating on the assumption that it's the same root
 issue.

 It does *not* happen for CSS or JS.
