 As per today's 7.0 bug scrub: Since this Feature Request wasn't updated
 until several months and as we're approaching 7.0 beta 1, I'm moving it to
 `Future Release`. If you think this ticket can realistically be shipped in
 7.0, please reopen it and post an update :)
