 Hi All,
This has changed over the years and various tooling now allows us to
change the site name easily without issue. For example I am quite fond of
the wp-cli method using `wp search-replace` which allows you to make a url
change across the DB without issue. There are a wide variety of ways to
achieve this now a days, and you can find out more here:
 administration/upgrade/migrating/| Migrating WordPress - Advanced
 Handbook]
However going back to the original issue around the site updates not
working when changing the site url, I have tested this on the latest
version following a more up to date method and I was able to update the
site afterwards. As of such this may have been an issue back in 3.8.2,
but due to the process being more defined now, and various changes within
the codebase, I can happily say that this is no longer an issue.
