 I'm still not sure I understand the configuration that would trigger this
 issue, but if you're using a reverse proxy, note that it is not expected
 that WordPress will simply work out-of-the-box with a reverse proxy.  It
 will probably be necessary to add code to `wp-config.php` in order to make
 it work.  See #8593, #9235, #15733, #19337, #24394, #57260...
