 Thank you for raising this @lebada.

 There hasn't been any feedback in several years. While this looks like a
 valid issue, it seems very complex to address, and it would need someone
 with sufficient expertise to drive it forward.

 I think this might only be possible to address with a rewrite of the
 WordPress media library, which might happen at some point.

 I'm closing it for now given the lack of activity, but if someone is
 willing to work on this, feel free to reopen.
