Comment:

 Hi all,

Since this ticket was opened, the WordPress content creation experience
has been completely rebuilt with the introduction of the block editor. A
core principle of the block editor project was to create a modern,
responsive, and mobile-first interface, which directly addresses the
issues raised here. The current mobile writing experience, while always
open to further improvement, is fundamentally aligned with the
"distraction-free" and streamlined vision this ticket originally proposed.

Given that the classic editor is now a legacy feature and the block editor
has superseded it as the default, this ticket is no longer actionable in
its original context. The solution was delivered through the evolution of
WordPress itself, and as of such I am going to add the `close` tag. 😃
