 I did not look through the CSS today (replying from my phone :) ). But I
 believe the intention is to keep any CSS the same so that the patterns
 that are already placed do not break or change design.

 These patterns are not synced, patterns that are already placed do not
 have a connection to the new pattern code and will not be updated when the
 new code is added to the theme.
