 The current approach will use the uploaded image bit depth for output
 images when using Imagick (with an Imagick version that support bit
 depths). As far as I can tell, GD does support high bit depth, see Note GD
 does not currently support HDR images, see
 https://github.com/libgd/libgd/issues/898
