 Since you are not the only one using this language @michaelorlitzky, it
 makes me curious. Why do people say specifically that WordPress is
 “overriding” the return-path when it’s just //setting// the value through
 the intended and documented argument to `PHPMailer`?

 Is this a rant or are people making a claim that WordPress/PHPMailer has
 somehow broken the system by allowing a mail-sending server to specify the
 return-path?

 I thought that the configurability was there specifically so that mail-
 sending servers could use the appropriate return-path address, whatever
 that might be. If that is truly the case, isn’t passing a value just
 //setting// the return path?
