 But because the SPF record for the WordPress site's domain wasn't actually
 used, it didn't matter if there was a bad SPF record (or if there was no
 SPF record at all).  DreamHost was using some address like
 `user at pdx1-shared-a2-09.dreamhost.com` as the envelope sender, so it would
 use the SPF record for `dreamhost.com`, not the WordPress site's domain.

 Of course, such a configuration would have other problems (e.g., it would
 be impossible to pass DMARC).  But it may have been sort of working
 before, at least enough to pass SPF and get the mail delivered...
