 The next release is WordPress 7, which might not be until early next year.
 Don't quote me, there are no fixed dates yet.

 I plan to chip away at this problem between now and then, but would
 appreciate testing and reviews. It's changing some very old code and I
 don't want to bring the house down, and I don't mean in the jovial and
 riotous applause sense.
