 Hi
 bbPress does not work with block themes / Site editing. The problems are
 not limited to index.php.
 There are also issues in other block themes that do not have this file.

 Because of that, I suggest closing this issue.
 Hopefully contributors to the plugin will be able to add support for block
 themes.
