Comment:

 Unfortunately this one did not get the attention it needs during the 6.6
 cycle, so I'm going to punt.

 I'm adding the `early` tag as I think this would benefit from a greater
 period of testing in `trunk` to confirm there are no unintended side
 effects somewhere.
