Comment:

 For many of the reasons discussed, I think that this much of a
 modification would introduce instability that ultimately will break sites,
 and as such I don't think it's something worth moving forward.


 I am adding the `close` keyword as I think this is something that should
 be `wontfix`. It's been seven years with no discussion, but let's give it
 this another month before closing in case someone wants to make a counter
 argument.
