 @spacedmonkey yes of course this is wordpress-develoop trunk, standard
 configuration:
 `define( 'WP_DEVELOPMENT_MODE', 'core' );`

 My point is more about what happens when a theme gets updated to a new
 version (with renamed / added / deleted pattern files) via FTP or other
 ways that don't trigger caches to be invalidated.
