 Hello @ema15, welcome to WordPress Core Trac and thanks for opening this
 ticket,

 Using `add_filter( 'wp_sitemaps_enabled', '__return_false' );` on a fresh
 WordPress install without any plugin, I wasn't able to reproduce the
 issue. Can you please try on a fresh WP install without any plugin,
 please?
