 As much as I would like PHP 5.6 support dropped at the earliest, I doubt
 if it would be feasible to manage it in time for the WP 5.6 release (which
 is expected to go out in August '23, with code freeze still earlier)

 I propose that we target WP 6.4 to drop support for PHP 5.6 (and
 preferably 7.0 and 7.1 as well). This will provide us ample time to put up
 the Make blog post and inform the developers, users etc.
