Comment (by LewisCowles):
Just got a notification about this. While it is sad; there are plugins
available. I even authored a plugin that works after disabling, you keep
the uploads and their file dimensions, it doesn't mess with my SVG files.
This feels like an unwinnable debate; not only because even here we have
fragmented ideas about what the SVG support would look like. Some people
are using vague nonsense to block this issue for reasons I've yet to see
defined in a robust manner; and we're all yelling at them. One thing that
has come to light for me over the years is that any SVG plugin primary
drawback is compatibility with themes and other plugins, where it is
unlikely we can predict ALL the interactions any such plugin (or change to
CORE) may have. For me that carries a lot more weight than the fanciful
specificity of "Yeah but SVG has vulnerabilities".
