 I agree with @davidbaumwald for it to land in 6.3, rather than 6.2. Why?

 * It's not a `gutenberg-merge`.
 * It's an enhancement, i.e. 6.2 is past the enhancement window.
 * Wasn't introduced in the 6.2 cycle.
 * It's not breaking anything.

 Once 6.2 is branched (at RC), then this can be committed. I'm all for
 removing non-BC dead code. Good find @oandregal!
