 I also think this would be a good path forward. The goal is not to add new
 functionality at this stage but to fix the missing functionality that is
 causing the regressions @poena mentions above. Let's reconsider the
 original labeling of the ticket; we are in the Beta period, and fixing
 these regressions seem in place.
