 Missed the ticket # in the revert, but here it is.

 In [changeset:"54673" 54673]:

 Role/Capability: Revert the newly added `update_role` function for 6.1.

 Based on feedback, this enhancement isn't quite ready.  Reverting [54213]
 for now to continue the work in the next cycle.

 Follow-up to [54213].

 Also tagging for a secondary review to revert from the 6.1 branch.
