Comment:

 Support for Internet Explorer 11 was dropped in 2021 with WordPress 5.8.

 While a reasonable argument can be made that default themes are released
 with support targeted at a specific set of browsers and that should be
 maintained over time, IE11 is now no longer supported by Microsoft, and
 [https://browserslist.dev/?q=aWUgMTE%3D IE11 usage accounts for less than]
 `0.5%` of users.

 With this in mind, I'm going to close this as a `wontfix`.

 target IE.
