Comment:

 Since things appear to be working in WordPress by it self until the
 Classic Editor plugin is used for you, I would suggest creating a ticket
 in their [https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/classic-editor/ support
 forums] (I see you've done so, so this is just a followup to anyone else
 that may find this ticket with similar concerns).

 Since the problem has been reported via the plugins own support forum, I'm
 going to close this ticket for now. Of course, if it is discovered that
 the problem is caused by a bug within WordPress core, the ticket can be
 re-opened in the future.
