 Hi @pflanzenoma

 thank you for the report!

 I tried to reproduce the problem, but with the latest WordPress 5.9 I
 can't see it.

 I tried to paste the word and I tried to manually type it. I even tried it
 with a space before or after the asterisk and the block editor does not
 make a list out of it.

 If the problem is still valid for you, please re-open the ticket and share
 more details on how to reproduce the problem. Thank you again!
