 Thanks for reporting the issue. You are right removing the caption removes
 the image alignment too.

 === Env
 * WordPress 6.0
 * Chrome 102.0.5005.115
 * MacOS Monterey
 * Theme: Twenty Twenty two
 * Gutenberg Editor, Classic Block

 === Steps to test
 1. Add a classic block and add Media
 2. Add caption and alignment to image
 3. Publish the post, will appear as expected
 4. Now remove the caption and publish
 5. Aligmnet will reset to default
