 I've done probably 5 fresh installs now. I regularly get either the White
 Screen of Death or an infinite pin wheel. Only thing that sticks out as a
 possible culprit is this message on the dashboard

 Mind you this is a fresh install, there is no child-theme yet, no plugins
 (aside from Akismet and Hello Dolly), etc. Pops up every time in the
 WordPress Events and News box. I've used a different database for each
 install as well
