 No one would do this would they? But I did and managed to get the
 customizer to break. Three backslashes in the site title field will show a
 reduced customizer, when you return to it. Only the widget area is shown,
 but it doesn't do anything  and the page preview is blank. Not a twenty
 twenty two problem. Replicated in local and multisite settings, with no
 plugins active and WP up to the minute.
