Comment:

 This has generated no traction and in the years since this ticket last had
 a substantial comment, WordPress has completely changed the way it uses
 and writes JavaScript. As such, I am closing this as `wontfix`.

 Discussion can always continue on closed tickets and it can be reopened in
 the future should conditions change.
