 By the way, concerning the media library, it's right that it is not the
 more modern component in WordPress. But there is a big technical debt on
 it, and at the same time, it's hard to rebuild it completely without
 facing huge backwards compatibility issues.

 It will probably be rebuild at some point, but it is a long term task. In
 the meantime, there is a bunch of plugins that can be used to improve the
 experience with the Media Library:
