 ...until thumbnails are regenerated!! And, unless someone knows they're
 about to create WebP duplicates of all their existing thumbnails -- and
 most people will not know, because you're not making it clear to them --
 they won't know they're about to increase their usage by ~70%.

 This will be a severe problem over time...but fine. Do what you want. I
 give up. 😢
