 @audrasjb Thanks for the heads-up. The problem is not a patch, the problem
 is that we need more people speaking up to support adding MbString (or
 iconv or Intl) as a required extension.

 I personally would find it pretty problematic if this gets moved to a
 future release, as it will make it significantly harder for plugins/themes
 to get ready for PHP 8.2.
