 the new capability would be great.

 I don't know about any obvious usage. However, I've seen this exciting
 exploration from @tyxla in Gutenberg
 https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/42525, where he plays with
 Suspense from React to improve the editor loading experience. It might be
 an excellent opportunity to look at using asset preloading to take the
 whole concept to another level.
