 [https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-develop/pull/1588 PR 1588] is now
 ready for backporting to WP 5.8 back to 5.2.

 @desrosj @SergeyBiryukov is it possible to backport this week? Why? Would
 be good to publish the dev note early next (currently pending until the
 backports are done).
