 Having considered the BC overnight and consulted with a few developers and
 hosts of the type of site likely to be affected; I think it's fine to make
 the switch and keep `map_meta_cap => true`. This matches the current state
 of the PR, so no change is needed there.

 It's probably worth noting this part of the change in a separate dev-note
 so it doesn't get lost in amongst the details of the new API endpoint.
