 not a WordPress project. We might want to suggest these changes upstream
 if necessary.

 Thanks for the feedback @SergeyBiryukov I was wondering about these
 changes and agree we can remove them. Since they are about supporting
 older PHP versions, they probably don't belong in the upstream library.
 Will remove.
