 I think I would consider this a feature request and perfectly fine to be
 made here. But, I do agree with closing the ticket.

 #5864 is quite old, but I think a lot of the points mentioned there still
 hold true. #39123 may also be relevant to you depending on your desired
 solution.

 ticket:20235#comment:7 has some additional background on username being
 used in URLs, as well as #3708, #5301, #5388, and #14644.
