Comment:

 With 5.8 Beta 1 next week, discussion stalled on this during the 5.8
 release cycle, and no owner set, I'm going to punt this to `Future
 Release`. Once discussion picks back up and an approach is confirmed, this
 ticket can be added back to a numbered milestone.
