Does anyone feel strongly about these? I think they add quite a lot of
visual noise but are of no concern to the user who is moderating comments.

I agree. As a default, I don't think information needs to be visible and
would defer to a plugin to add that if it is critical for some reason.
To give another example, there is no visible indicator on a comment when
that commenter has subscribed to follow-up comments when using the Jetpack
plugin and, afaik/can tell, it has never been requested.
