 Hi there, welcome to WordPress Trac! Thanks for the report.

 Generally, submitting a comment does not update the post date. There was a
 request to do that in #34775, never implemented and closed as `wontfix`
 per the discussion.

 Does the issue still happen with all plugins disabled and a default theme
 (Twenty Twenty-One) activated?
