 As per @Drivingralle's statement, can this at least be clearly stated in
 the Developer Docs somewhere, unless it already is and I missed it. I too
 ran into this when dealing with data that is "encoded" (json) at rest, and
 "decoded" (array -> text area) when in flight/use.
