 The reported error is "Uncaught TypeError: e(...).select2 is not a
 function".

 I am referring this from the developers of MaxGalleria, to whom I first
 reported a problem. Their research uncovered this problem.

 It manifests itself as a failure of the media selection "dialog" to set up
 properly, display media files and select them. More specifically, it
 occurred when I tried to add an image to a MaxGalleria image gallery.
