 I'm just going to step in and say that this should be scoped to restoring
 functionality as it was in 5.6.0, any further enhancements should ideally
 happen in a separate ticket with a different milestone.

 This to ensure we do not introduce untested enhancements, this is key for
 a reasonably timed update to the issues as being experienced.
