Comment:

 Agreed, I was under the impression this would be an optional way to embed
 (eg. by pasting a youtube-nocookie URL) rather than replacing the default
 embed. This is why I was asking about the functional changes to the
 player.

 As much as I dislike being tracked around the internet, not being able to
 add a video to my Watch Later list is more of an annoyance.

 I think we need to re-assess this change. I anticipate a large number of
 complaints in the forums if the default embed endpoint changes.
