Comment (by ryelle):

Okay, I've created a new branch with the "jazzy" design.

 I made [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xq9u-
 0xsjgAtxrGgrXi0tiNK85Pr7_O0Fe-gG7aao2k/edit?usp=sharing a google doc for
the copy], I thought that would be easier to understand/comment on than
the thread here. Anyone should be able to comment & make suggestions, so
we can figure out what should go in the second 2 columns when not using a
 block-based theme.

I mentioned in the PR, but I also need an export of the textured
background, if we want to include that.

 > if the design does get revisited in the future, we could think of it as
a new template to be used moving forward.

That was the intention with the current About page design too. There was a
Sketch template, a Figma template (I think), and we wrote up documentation
about how elements can be laid out on the page, but different designers
work on it every release, and tools change, so it’s hard to keep things
consistent. I won't be a blocker on this for the welcome panel, but just
 sharing some more historical context.
